Speaking in an interview on Happy FM about his side’s group pairing, Coach Adarkwa revealed his side have recruited four players to aid in his team’s quest to punch above their weights in this year’s CAF Women’s CL.
“Last year, we were lucky to have been defeated in the finals of the qualifiers but this year, the team’s focus is qualify for the main tournament. We have recruited two players from supreme ladies and also a goalkeeper who plies her trade in Nigeria and also Esther Owusu from ATC. We lost last year’s final of the qualifiers because we lost a key player which weakened our squad”.
Ampem Darkoa Ladies recorded a penalty shootouts win over Hasaacas Ladies to win their fourth Women’s Premier League title and that gave them the nod to once again represent Ghana in the 2023 WAFU Zone B Championship.
Coach Adarkwa and his girls will have the opportunity once again to represent the country in the upcoming WAFU Zone B Championship and will hope to exceed last year’s performance as they set sights this time on nothing but a spot in the third edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League.
