CISM launches maiden Infotainment and Dinner night event in style

Great men and women of Ghana and beyond assemble at the DVLA conference hall, to observe a night full of bliss solace and great interest in economic growth and stability through the practice of supply chain management.


As the very first of its kind, the event was themed ‘Local Content, The only way out for emerging companies, the event was designed and organized as an infotainment public event to provide an avenue for governmental and private stakeholders to interact and socialize as they create a way forward regarding supply chain development in Ghana and Africa at large.


The President of the Institute, Mr. Richard O. Okrah in his welcome address stated that the Institute is working towards putting the national budget in perspective of supply chain management I order to advise the government on how to proactively implement those economic policies to attain value for money.


“This is the very first time we are doing this, and our aim as a company is to create this avenue for supply chain development on the third week of January every year.” he highlighted.


He also emphasized the institute’s motive to aid the government with its strategic business unit and the use of their subject matter experts to support the government, corporate bodies, professionals, and the general public to effectively use, review, and promote value through integrated supply chain management by formal and informal means namely seminars, workshops, among others.


Chairman of the event, Dr Daniel McKorley, Chief Executive Officer of McDan group of companies called on industry players to include supply chain management as a course in tertiary level education to empower and enlighten the youth about supply chain management.


He further acknowledged the institute as one that must be taken seriously and would be the best institute to understand the role the supply chain played in the global pandemic era.


“If we take this seriously, we will indigenize, our products, our supply chain and customize it to our understanding that would be able to help us economically.” he posited.


The moments for rewarding distinguished stakeholders of the Chartered Institute of Supply Chain Management followed up close after the crowd was thrilled to live band music. The awards presented acknowledged Corporate Community, Volta River Authority, Union Beverages, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Tullow Oil Ghana, Bethel Logistics, EPP Books Group, UMB Bank, Spot On Insurance, CH Group, and Conserco Mining and Services.


Key activities for the night were the Launching of CISM’s recognition night and CISM’s communication platforms as well as the outdooring of CISM’s hosting as the Africa Chairmanship for the International Federation of Purchasing and Supply Management (IFPSM).


Notable personalities who graced the occasion included Dr Saibu Gariba, Commissioner of Police for Greater Accra, Mrs. Patience Baffoe Bonney, Director of Services for Ghana Prison Services, and Retired Colonel Richard Darpah, Chief Executive Officer of UMB Bank.
