The High Court (Criminal Division) in Accra has granted GH₵200,000 bail each to a former Secretary of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) and Andy Owusu, an aide to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako.
The two appeared before the court on Tuesday, May 6, in connection with 15 criminal charges filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Their respective pleas were formally taken during the hearing.
The court admitted the accused to bail, setting the bond at GH₵200,000 each, with two sureties, one of whom must be justified.
The case has been adjourned to May 29, 2025, for a Case Management Conference (CMC), aimed at clarifying legal issues, disclosing evidence, and setting timelines for the trial.
The charges, filed at the High Court (Criminal Division) in Accra on April 28, allege that between January and February 2019, Mr. Bissue, while serving as IMCIM Secretary, accepted GH₵35,000 in bribes from Benjamin Adjapong, directly and through Andy Owusu, to facilitate the renewal of an expired mining license for ORR Resources Enterprise without proper documentation.
