The Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Hadzide has acknowledged that it has become worrying as frontline health workers, designated to treat COVID-19 patients are contracting the virus at increasing rates.

He noted that just like the Health Minister, all frontline health workers regard COVID-19 protocols but it still remains a mystery how they are contracting the virus.

Speaking in an interview on Happy98.9 FM’s Happy Morning Show with Samuel Eshun, he said, “We hope no health worker gets the virus but we have all the same heard some have contracted the virus whilst others are recovering. We’re concerned about them but we are appreciative of the sacrifices they are making.”

To him, the nation is highly indebted to health workers for their selfless sacrifices as the country fights against the pandemic. “The country is in their debt and we keep praying for them.”

According to him, the government is frequently in contact with frontline health workers “and we will in no way treat the support we give them lightly. So we will properly equip them to do their job.”

He reiterated that it was a bit worrying for anyone to contract the virus especially if they were health workers.

The number of frontline health workers who have contracted the coronavirus in the country keeps on increasing regardless of protocols put in place when attending to COVID-19 patients.

Despite the increasing infection rates amongst the health professionals, their colleagues are still doing their jobs and have called for more research to be conducted into the coronavirus as it seems to be adaptable and evasive.
