The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has warned cement suppliers to reduce prices or risk being sidelined in a major upcoming road infrastructure project.
Addressing the media he emphasized that, the government would in the coming weeks commence a large scale infrastructure project which he mentioned would require lots of cement usage.
“The government is about to roll out a massive road infrastructure project which will consume a lot of cement.
He reiterated that, “we have the capacity to direct that cement should not be sourced from sources that are not ready to reduce their prices”.
Mr. Agbodza stressed the government’s preference for suppliers who align pricing with current economic conditions, saying those who fail to do so may lose future opportunities.
“Cement dealers should take advantage and bring the prices down. Otherwise, we may be forced to source from more reasonably priced suppliers”, the Minister advised.
The massive road project is expected to consume vast amounts of cement, positioning price-conscious suppliers to benefit most.
