One person has been reported dead on the deadly Nkwanta (Keri to Odormi) bridge in the Oti region after several calls for renovations.

The Nkwanta (Odormi to Keri)bridge has been a death trap after what seems to be a heavy down pour collapsed major parts of the bridge putting the lives of pedestrians at risk.

The bridge which facilitates safe crossing from the outskirt of Nkwanta to it’s neighbouring communities, is now spotting unimaginable deadly cracks after a recent six hour down pour. The old metal bridge got damaged in less than six months after construction.

According to sources, residence constructed some temporal bridges as alternatives last year yet the rain washed them away on every occasion.

As a result, several lives have been lost. Some persons have also been confirmed to have sustained injuries and in critical condition after two boys on motorcycle unknowningly fell into the ditch.

Residents of the community remain agitated after several attempts to fix the bridge themselves, but the situation appears to be beyond their control.
