The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Gomoa East, Kojo Asemanyi has strongly criticized the current Member of Parliament, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, calling him the worst MP in the constituency’s history. Asemanyi made these comments during a visit by NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the constituency on Monday, September 23.

Asemanyi expressed his disappointment, stating that it’s a shame for the constituency’s MP to be labeled as “useless”. He criticized Paitoo’s behavior as disrespectful and lacking in communication skills, highlighting that the MP’s common fund, meant for constituency development, has been withheld from the people.

Asemanyi emphasized that the people of Gomoa East will not reelect Paitoo for a second term, suggesting that Paitoo’s leadership style is influenced by his party’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, who Asemanyi views as having a poor record and doesn’t deserve a comeback.
Asemanyi warned that voting for Mahama would be a grave mistake.

It’s worth noting that Asemanyi and Paitoo have a history of competition, with Asemanyi winning the 2016 parliamentary election and Paitoo reclaiming the seat in 2020. As the 2024 elections approach, Asemanyi’s comments underscore the intense rivalry between the two candidates, setting the stage for a fiercely contested parliamentary race in Gomoa East.
