Security Expert, Adib Saani has said that the recent prophecies by Ghanaian pastors is a recipe for fear and panic in the country.

Speaking in an interview with Happy FM’s host Samuel Eshun on the Happy Morning Show, he mentioned that “prophecies have serious implications on the security of the country”. He added that history has proven that many religious bodies have capitalized on the ignorance of people using destructive predictions to cause chaos and instability in other parts of the world.

He was also of the opinion that these pastors continue to threaten the security of the country with their prophecies because political parties fail to take action against them and the citizens of the country are indifferent about the consequences of these prophecies until something terrible occurs.

“The political parties know what is going on but they are afraid to take action because they believe it will affect their political fortune. Also, we as a country are extremely reactive to security concerns rather than being proactive. We are waiting till something happens such as a congregation drinking poison or a congregation attacking people before we do something about it”, he added.

He, however, cautioned that the National Media Commission (NMC) should implement its regulations by cutting the publicity of these pastors who predict doomsday.

The final days of 2019 saw an aura of prophecies by some Ghanaian pastors that ranged from the winners of the 2020 elections to the economy of the country.
