The Gyaasehene of the Dormaa Traditional Council, Barima Buabasa Oppong Yaw Ababio, has called on government to prioritize the construction of a dual carriageway on the Dormaa Ahenkro to Sunyani road to help curb frequent accidents on the busy stretch.
According to him, the route has witnessed several crashes in recent years, resulting in avoidable loss of lives. He stressed that the dualization of the road has become necessary due to its heavy traffic flow and importance as a major commercial and transport link in the Bono Region.
“A dual carriageway will not only reduce accidents but also improve the efficiency of transportation between Dormaa Ahenkro and Sunyani, which remain vital centers of commerce and daily activity,” he stated.
The Gyaasehene also urged the establishment of a driving school in Dormaa Ahenkro to instill safe driving practices among motorists. He disclosed that the Paramount Chief of Dormaa, Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, has already allocated land for the project and called on government or interested private partners to take up the initiative.
He emphasized that both interventions the dualization of the highway and the establishment of a driving school would go a long way to enhance road safety and save lives in the area.
