The Personal Aid to Manhyia Chief of Staff, Nana Kwame Aboagye Mensah, has confirmed to Happy 98.9 FM that Executive Director of Asante Kotoko, Dr Kwame Kyei is still in charge of the team.

There has been reports in the local media indicating that Dr Kwame Kyei has been sacked following a statement released by Manhyia Palace on Wednesday.

According to the statement, Dr Kwame Kyei was instructed to submit a report on his administration of the club for the past three years which is normally a trend with outgoing Executive Directors of the club.

The statement by the Chief of Staff Kofi Badu read,“The Executive Chairman of the club, Dr Kwame Kyei, has submitted the report of his administration for the three years of his mandate”.

“The report is being evaluated for the consideration of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu I, Asantehene and an announcement will be made in due course on the future”.

Nana Kwame Aboagye Mensah in an interview on Wamputu Sports on Happy 98.9FM with Odi Asempa Kwame Oware debunked the reports on Dr. Kwame Kyei being sacked as the club’s Executive Director and stated the statement released by Manhyia did not indicate Dr Kwame Kyei has been sacked.

“Dr Kwame Kyei is still at post. I want all the Kotoko supporters to be calm and know that we haven’t taken a decision to sack him. Dr Kwame Kyei is still in charge of the team”.

“We did not even state in the release that Dr Kwame Kyei has been sacked. Officially he was given a three-year mandate and he was told to file his report to Manhyia”, he added.

Nana Kwame Aboagye Mensah stated Manhyia Palace will do everything possible to resolve all the issues the club is battling with at the moment.
