The Member of Parliament for the Klottey Korle Constituency, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, has emphasized her commitment to promoting sports beyond football through the annual Homowo Bodyfest.

Speaking in an interview with Happyghana.com at the third edition of the event on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Shoe’3 Nɔ – Osu 5 Junction, Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings explained that the event, which coincides with Homowo celebrations, is designed to spotlight other sporting disciplines that often receive little attention.

“Not everybody is interested in football. There are other sports, and this is another way of putting the spotlight on those areas that young people in the constituency are passionate about,” she said.

The event attracted prominent personalities including Alfred Allotey-Gaisie, Municipal Chief Executive of Korle Klottey, Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams and the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Sports Authority, Yaw Ampofo Ankrah.

It also featured professional weightlifters, bodybuilders, bouncers with academic degrees, and Ghana’s Paralympic weightlifter.

Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings highlighted the growth of the Bodyfest, noting that while the first two editions drew participants mainly from within the constituency, this year’s program attracted individuals from other parts of the country.

“One of our top athletes from last year and the year before went on to represent Ghana internationally and came back with medals. That shows the kind of impact we are making,” she added.

According to Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings, the Homowo Bodyfest has become a platform not only for showcasing talent but also for nurturing future champions in weightlifting and bodybuilding.
