Protestors participating in the Dumsor Must Stop Demonstration have caused significant traffic congestion in Accra.

Led by Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson, this demonstration marks the second edition of the protest against indiscriminate power outages in Ghana, following the initial protest in 2015.

The demonstration commenced at 8:00 AM today, attracting a large crowd of both young and old. Participants marched from the University of Ghana to the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, voicing their frustration over the recent power outages plaguing the country.

Protestors, in an engagement with happyghana.com at the interchange, emphasized the strategic choice of location. They noted that the road is frequently used by influential individuals and government officials. “We have blocked cars from moving because we want people to feel what we are feeling; as we have blocked them, it will definitely get to the Flagstaff House; we don’t want any minister or MP to go through. Tonight, they will hear us,” said one protestor.

The Ghana Police Service quickly intervened to ensure safety and concluded the demonstration at 8:00 PM.
