A domestic misunderstanding over a change of meal has reportedly left a man severely injured after his 21-year-old wife allegedly stabbed him at Maamaso near New Abirem in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.
The suspect, identified only as Maafua, is said to have stabbed her 29-year-old husband, Kofi, during an altercation that ensued after he confronted her for changing their planned meal from banku and okro stew to banku and light soup.
According to sources, Kofi had given Maafua money to prepare banku and okro stew, but upon returning from work, he found that she had instead prepared banku and light soup.
When questioned, Maafua reportedly explained that the money he provided was insufficient for the original meal, so she decided to prepare a cheaper alternative and save the remaining amount.
The explanation is said to have infuriated Kofi, leading to a heated argument that quickly escalated into a physical struggle.
During the altercation, Kofi allegedly picked up a knife, but Maafua managed to seize it and reportedly stabbed him in the process.
Kofi’s brother, Francis, who was in another room, rushed to the scene after hearing the commotion and found Kofi bleeding. He immediately transported his injured brother to the New Abirem Government Hospital.
Due to the severity of his injuries, Kofi was later transferred to the Koforidua Government Hospital for further treatment. Police say investigation into the incident is still ongoing to determine the exact circumstances that led to the stabbing.
