The Editor for the Patriot Newspaper, Peter Bamfo has expressed with concern the general sense of insecurity going into the general elections and has thus called on all Ghanaians to show concern for a solution to this phenomenon.

In the special segment of the Happy Morning Show dubbed ‘Editor’s Take’, Peter related: “We are approaching elections and if you have observed some few days to the election, there is a general sense of breakdown in security.

So at this level, Members of Parliament are being shot and murdered. Individual Ghanaians are being attacked. People are travelling and there are people on the streets day in day out with guns. The National Communications officer of the NDC raised concerns about the number of guns that are under people’s beds illegally”.

He shared his fears when he told Samuel Eshun, ”Nobody seems to care we are going into an election and I am afraid. We are going into the elections. And indeed I am not happy with that. And now we are no more surprised when these things happen. Previously when we hear that someone has been killed it is a big deal but now it is a daily occurrence”.

Peter suggested that all Ghanaians ought to be worried and come together to find a solution to this menace.

The Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Constituency, Mr Ekow Kwansah Hayford was shot dead by unknown assailants while returning from a campaign tour on the Nkusukum Mankessim-Abeadze Duadze road in the Central Region at about 1am on Friday, October 9, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service says it has arrested five persons in connection with the murder of the MP for Mfantseman, Ekow Quansah Hayford.

Although details of the five suspects remain scanty, available information indicates that there is a manhunt for other suspects in connection with the crime.
