President of the Republic Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has declared Monday, 7 December [Voting Day] 2020 a public holiday.
The President in a statement said the decision “is to facilitate the conduct of the election in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic” as well as “help ensure strict observance of COVID-19 safety protocols on election day.”
Earlier today, All registered political parties including the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress backed a proposal by the Electoral Commission to declare December 7 as a statutory public holiday.
Registered Voters are expected to vote to choose a President and new Parliamentarians on Monday, December 7 between 7:00am and 5:00pm.
