The Ghana Police Service has apprehended Fredrick Papa Kow-Assifuah, a man accused of impersonating a medical doctor and defrauding unsuspecting victims with false promises of international travel opportunities.

The suspect was arrested in an intelligence-led operation at Kasoa Crispo City in the Central Region while wearing a white lab coat with a stethoscope around his neck.

He was in the process of meeting another potential victim he had lured online.

During a search of his premises, police recovered multiple medical items, including stethoscopes, intravenous (IV) drips, syringes, sample bottles, vaccines, and GH¢8,500 in cash.

The Police believe these items were used to reinforce his fraudulent identity.

Interrogation revealed Kow-Assifuah had been posing as a doctor at United Brain Hospital in Mallam, Accra, and had built an elaborate scheme targeting women online.

Posing as a medical professional, he initiated intimate relationships, gained their trust, and eventually manipulated them into parting with money for fake travel arrangements to Europe.

The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting authorities with investigations, and is expected to be arraigned before court soon.
