FanMilk PLC, one of Ghana’s leading dairy and beverage companies, marked a major milestone in its sustainability and youth education campaign during the 2025 edition of the FanMilk School Caravan, held at Services Basic School in Burma Camp.
The event was led by Lionel Parent, Managing Director of FanMilk PLC, who reaffirmed the company’s commitment to promoting healthy snacking and environmental stewardship among Ghana’s youth.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Parent emphasized the importance of instilling lifelong habits in the younger generation. “First, we must eat well to stay healthy. Second, we must protect our environment by recycling. Every snack wrapper is a choice either we pollute or we give it a second life,” he said.
The School Caravan, now in its seventh year, has grown from reaching 100 schools last year to an ambitious 1,000 schools in 2025, impacting over 90,000 students nationwide.
Mr. Parent shared his vision of scaling the initiative even further: “One day, we’ll reach 10,000 schools and 5 million students. Every child we educate becomes a messenger of change spreading awareness to their families, friends, and communities.”
In a shift from traditional rewards such as tablets and books, FanMilk announced a new legacy-focused approach.
Winning schools will now receive renovations tailored to their needs, including upgrades to libraries, science labs, and other learning spaces. “We want to leave behind something lasting,” Mr. Parent added. “This is about building joy, health, and sustainability into the very fabric of our schools.”
Yaw Darko, Marketing Manager for FanMilk Ghana also said that the company has targeted 1000 schools where dust bin will be given to them in a rubber challenge and the best School would be rewarded.
The award comes in a form of doing projects like ICT laboratory, library, Science laboratory and many others.
He therefore encouraged the learners to put up the right behaviour by practising good hygiene to have a healthy life.
Notwithstanding, Mrs. Theresa Oppong Mensah, National Director of Shep (School Health Education programme) commended the initiative by FanMilk emphasizing that with their nutrition component of promoting healthy nutrition, the children do not just eat but they choose the right place to eat with the education that comes with the initiative.
“They benefit from the education and they are also benefiting from containers to achieve proper sanitation and personal hygiene”, she noted.
We are hoping and praying that five years to come, this initiative would reach every school for them to also enjoy the privilege other’s are having, she said.
