The Government of Ghana has officially disbursed first-quarter allowances to traditional leaders across the country, marking a significant step in recognizing and empowering chieftaincy institutions beyond their ceremonial roles.
Deputy Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, made the announcement during the launch of the 2025 Ghana Chieftaincy Awards held in Accra.
The event celebrated the contributions of traditional authorities to national development and cultural preservation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Madam Sowah, who also serves as Member of Parliament for Dadekotopon, emphasized that the allowances are intended to support chiefs and other traditional leaders in making tangible impacts within their communities.
She further assured that second-quarter payments would be processed.
