Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has made a diplomatic trip to India to engage in talks aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries.

The trip, which he spoke about in a post on his X page, marks his first diplomatic visit outside the African continent.

The Foreign Minister, honoring the invitation of India’s Foreign Minister, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, described it as an opportunity to reinforce a well-solidified relationship. He referred to India as “a reliable, trusted and historical partner since the days of Nkrumah and Nehru.”

Ablakwa further noted India as a valuable partner, given their “South-South development aspirations.”

During his stay in India, Ghana’s Foreign Minister will also participate in the Raisina Dialogue, which is commemorating its 10th anniversary.

India has played an instrumental role in Ghana’s educational sector, offering 500 full scholarships each year for students from Ghana to study in India.
