Former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, has praised the current MP for the constituency, Ohene Kwame Frimpong, popularly known as OK Frimpong, for working closely with the Asante Akim Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) to advance development in the area.
Speaking in an interview, Mr. Agyemang noted that although it is still early to fully assess the performance of the new MP, an objective review shows that he is making positive strides.
He described the collaboration between OK Frimpong and the MCE as a commendable step, stressing that effective development is often achieved when an MP works in harmony with the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assembly, where the bulk of development funds are managed and utilised for projects.
However, the former MP advised OK Frimpong to focus on undertaking major, long-lasting projects that would leave a clear legacy.
While acknowledging that distributing food items such as rice and chicken to constituents is beneficial, he cautioned that such gestures are easily forgotten and do not replace the impact of enduring development initiatives.
Mr. Agyemang further urged the MP to revisit the campaign promises that earned him overwhelming support from the people of Asante Akim North.
These, he said, include commitments to establish nine factories, as well as build schools, hospitals, markets and other landmark projects.
He reminded OK Frimpong that time is limited, emphasising that the MP has only four years to make a significant impact, adding that the New Patriotic Party is determined to reclaim the Asante Akim North parliamentary seat in the 2028 general elections.
