GFA calls for more collaboration between stakeholders in stadia renovation

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Safety and Security Officer, Julius Emunah, has called for improved collaboration between his outfit, the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS) and the National Sports Stadium when renovating the various stadia across the country.

According to him, the stadia in the country do not meet the FIFA licensing requirement.

The Baba Yara Sports Stadium which was recently renovated did not meet the International standard after checks by a team of CAF/FIFA inspectors ahead of Ghana’s World Cup playoff first leg against Nigeria on March 25.

CAF has given some conditions to be met or else the Ghana Football Association would be sanctioned after the game.

Mr Emunah, who is also a CAF-certified Safety and Security Officer said the lack of collaboration between the various stakeholders is problematic which is part to the current challenges facing the country in terms of sports infrastructure.

“If we are able to cooperate properly, I don’t think these things will happen. We have over 10 AstroTurf built in the country that cannot even host a Premier League game”, he told Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports on Happy 98.9FM.

“We only call for improved collaboration between the GFA, NSA and other stakeholders in terms of getting proper expertise, not for only our main stadium but other government projects”.

“If we are able to come together and cooperate properly I don’t think it will be difficult for some of these things to happen”, he added.
