The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has released the first tranche of financial support to clubs ahead of the 2025/26 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League season, a move aimed at easing the operational burden on teams and further strengthening the women’s game.
Each of the 20 Premier League clubs has received GH₵25,000, amounting to a total of GH₵500,000. This represents 50% of the payment made by headline sponsor Malta Guinness, which has been channelled entirely to clubs.
The funds are expected to help with preparations and general operations as teams gear up for the new campaign.
This latest support builds on earlier GFA initiatives. Already, the Association has provided:
30 pairs of soccer boots to each club
GH₵5,000 Melcom shopping vouchers per team
Football supplies for training and competition
These efforts form part of the GFA’s ongoing investment in women’s football ensuring clubs are better equipped as the league continues to grow in visibility, professionalism, and competitiveness.
The remaining instalments of the package will be released later in the season.
