
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) is investigating an incident in Kumasi involving seven of its personnel (three officers and four soldiers) who allegedly arrested and assaulted three civilians accused of stealing a mobile phone on March 28, 2025.
Reports indicate that the civilians suffered varying injuries during the altercation.
Following the incident, the Military Police and the Ashanti Regional Police CID initiated a joint probe to uncover the facts. The accused personnel have been placed under closed arrest as the investigation progresses.
Brigadier General Eric Aggrey Quashie, Director of Public Relations, issued a statement emphasizing the military’s commitment to discipline and accountability.
He assured the public that anyone found guilty would face legal repercussions.
The statement also called for calm, urging the public and the victims’ families to allow due process to take its course.
