Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that the country’s embassy in Iran will reopen on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after a three-month suspension of operations.
Speaking at the Government Accountability Series in Accra, Mr. Ablakwa said the temporary closure in June was due to heightened regional security concerns. He assured that conditions have now improved and new measures have been implemented to safeguard diplomatic staff.
“I can announce that after three months of closure of our embassy in Iran, we shall fully reopen tomorrow. Measures have been put in place to guarantee the safety of our diplomatic staff,” the minister stated.
The reopening restores Ghana’s diplomatic presence in Tehran, signaling improved security and renewed confidence in maintaining bilateral relations.
