
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has interdicted the police officer for allegedly shooting and injuring an Asante Kotoko fan at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday 12 January, 2020.
The Ghana Premier League game played between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea resulted in a home defeat to the Porcupine Warriors and which sparked some crowd disturbances after supporters were unhappy with certain decisions taken by referee Charles Bulu.
A Kotoko fan was shot as a result of the violence and the Ghana Police Service in a swift move has interdicted the Police Officer.
According to Regional Police Command, the interdiction will be in force until the investigation into the shooting is concluded.
A statement signed by the Public Affairs Officer of the Regional Police Command ASP Godwin Ahianyo, said the Command takes a serious view of the incident and has subsequently commenced an investigation.
The statement further added that any person who has information, pictures or videos on the incident should contact the regional police command to assist with the investigations.
