The Railway Workers Union of Ghana has suspended its planned nationwide strike and peaceful picketing originally scheduled for September 30, 2025.
This decision follows a directive from the National Labour Commission (NLC), which called for negotiations on the same date.
In a letter to the Greater Accra Regional Police, the union confirmed its commitment to the negotiation process but warned that industrial action could resume if their concerns remain unresolved.
The union had threatened the strike over 12 months of unpaid salaries and entitlements, citing severe financial hardship, broken homes, and disrupted education.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has backed the union, urging the government to settle the arrears by September 30 or face broader action.
Talks are expected to take place on September 30.
