Award-winning Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur Michael Owusu Addo, better known as Sarkodie, has justified the reason Ghanaians are resisting the yet to be passed Electronic Transaction Levy (E-Levy) bill by government.

The discourse of the levy was born after Ghana’s Finance minister presented a bill to the legislative of government to be passed into law. The parliamentary chamber and Ghanaians have witnessed several brawls between the minority and majority caucuses in parliament.

Sarkodie who has been observant and quiet on the issue since its proposal in 2021 was tempted to speak about it after on follower on Twitter quizzed him on what his thoughts were.

“@sarkodie Please I want to know what you think about the E-Levy, you have been quiet on it your paddies are speaking their minds ooo,” the tweet from the rapper’s fan.

The ‘Coachella’ hitmaker couldn’t maintain his enviable silence on the issue and replied saying; “I pay a lot of taxes outside and I don’t complain because I’m using avenues they made available to make Money bag (it’s only right) it’s not same here and that’s why we complain not because the “E Levy” is bad . When you broke, a harmless “good morning” can sound like a tease.”

Other musicians who have shared their opinions on the proposed and yet to be passed E-Levy bill include renowned dancehall act Shatta Wale, actress Lydia Forson, A Plus, and Kwesi Pee
