WAEC to release 2025 BECE private candidate results today The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced that results for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for private candidates will be released by the end of today, Friday, September 5. Speaking at a media briefing, WAEC’s Public Relations Officer, John Kapi, confirmed the release timeline and shared key statistics. “A total of 1,661 private candidates, 858 males and 803 females, registered for this year’s BECE. This marks a 19.49% increase compared to last year,” he stated. According to John Kapi, the provisional results for school candidates were released earlier on August 23, with 603,328 students participating from 20,395 schools. WAEC noted a 5.99% rise in school candidate numbers. Kapi also addressed examination integrity, saying, “Candidates who infringed on the rules governing the conduct of the examination were appropriately sanctioned following investigations and the advice of the Council’s relevant committee.”

Ghanaians are tired of snoring Martin Amidu and his useless office – Maurice Ampaw

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has joined the long queue of individual Ghanaians who are disappointed in Ghana’s Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu accusing him of snoring on his job and not engaging in prosecutions as many thought.

The controversial lawyer observed that Ghanaians are gradually losing faith in the hitherto citizen vigilante who many thought should by now have prosecuted a number of cases within his period of appointment indicating that he is gradually reducing his office into a useless one.

According to him, the man appears to be too idle with nothing to show for since he was appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

“We’re tired of Martin Amidu. Tell him we are tired of him. He’s been idle for too long. We’ve not seen any action from him yet”, he revealed on Kumasi-based Abusua Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

Mr Ampaw wants him to use Mr Rockson Ayine Bukari as a test case in his resolve to fight corruption by investigating the whole matter and prosecuted if possible insisting resignation is not enough cap to the whole matter.

“If a man of his caliber resigns on the back of corruption allegation, then the issue has to be investigated. He must quickly be put before the court. The Attorney General, Martin Amidu must be interested in this case”, he said.

He wonders some members of the bench were fired based on allegations and just sit aloof on a matter that bothers on corruption involving a former Minister at the Presidency in charge of special duties.

“Some judges were sacked based on allegations. So if it’s criminal, why should we sit and accept the resignation and close the chapter? When this happens, we will lose the fight against corruption and bribery. Let’s not make it seem like when a politician is involved in bribery and corruption, the remedy is to resign. If this is what Martin Amidu will do, then his office is useless.”
