Ghana’s amputee football team, the Black Challenge, booked their place in the knockout stages of the 2024 African Amputee Football Championship (AAFCON) currently underway in Egypt. They secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Kenya.

Ghanaian stars Hamza Mohammed and Brown Williams were on target for the Black Challenge, while Kenya managed a single consolation goal. Mohammed’s impressive performance earned him the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award for the match.

The Black Challenge, led by young coach Steve Obeng, has been a force to be reckoned with in the tournament. They boast an impressive record of 11 goals scored and just one conceded.

Their next challenge comes on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, as they face Tanzania in the knockout stage. Coach Obeng expressed his full confidence in his team, believing they have the potential to reach the final and claim the championship.

In other matches, Nigeria dominated Burundi with a resounding 11-0 win. Morocco secured a 5-0 victory over Liberia, while Angola edged out Tanzania 2-1. Algeria also emerged victorious against Gambia with a score of 3-2.
