The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has inaugurated a new Fire Post at the Techiman Central Market in the Bono East Region as part of efforts to strengthen fire prevention and emergency response within the busy commercial hub.
A statement issued by the service said the facility was inaugurated by the Bono East Regional Command of the GNFS under the leadership of ACFO II (Rev.) Naomi Ofori-Adubea Sarpong, with support from the Techiman Municipal Assembly and the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council.
The new Fire Post is expected to significantly reduce emergency response times, enhance fire prevention and control, and intensify fire safety education among traders and market users, particularly in the wake of recent fire incidents in the area.
According to GNFS, the initiative forms part of broader measures to safeguard lives and protect property in major commercial centres across the region, while strengthening emergency management systems.
The Service reiterated its commitment to working closely with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure improved safety and preparedness at markets and other high-risk locations.
