The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has extended the deadline for gold dealers to reapply for licenses under its new regulatory framework.

Initially set to expire on April 30, 2025, the new deadline is now May 21, giving applicants additional time to comply with new licensing requirements.

At a press briefing on Wednesday, April 30, acting Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, revealed that many traders had not yet applied for new licenses, while some had started the process but failed to complete it.

“To ensure fairness, we’ve decided to extend the time frame to May 21, 2025. This should be adequate for anyone serious about continuing their gold trade legally.”

The Ghana Gold Board Act renders all previous licenses issued by the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC) or the Ministry of Mines invalid.

Sammy Gyamfi urged all dealers to apply immediately through the official portal, goldbod.gov.gh, ensuring accuracy to avoid disqualification.

“This new deadline is final. Trading without a valid Gold Board license beyond May 21 will constitute a criminal offense”.
