Okada riders in Gomoa Buduburam in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region have registered their displeasure over excessive dust on the Buduburam-Winneba road resulting in low patronage in their services.

According to them, the Buduburam-Winneba road under construction is a good initiative by the government but the contractor responsible for undertaking that project should water the road frequently to minimize dust on the road.

In an interview with Happy Kasiɛbɔ, one Okada rider said even though they water the road it is not as frequent as expected.

“We buy nose masks every second in order to prevent the dust particles or else you will go home with sickness. Again our customers don’t patronize our services due to the high level of dust particles so we are pleading with the contractor to water the road frequently to minimize the dust for us”.

“The excessive dust in the atmosphere also accounts for accidents because both riders and drivers do not have a clearer view of the road”, one Okada rider recounted.

Due to the severe dust particles on the road, the riders are calling on the contractor to water the road every 30 minutes to reduce its negative impact on both the riders and passengers.
