Asante Kotoko SC failed to take back the top spot on the premiership standings after they were to a pulsating draw at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi on Saturday.

The Porcupines couldn’t hold on to an early lead as WAFA came from behind to snatch a 1-1 stalemate in the end.

Asante Kotoko are placed 2nd of the league standings with same points as rivals Hearts of Oak who are leading the pack.

Asante Kotoko gaffer Mariano Barreto Jeronimo made three alterations to the squad that were held to a 1-1 stalemate last week by Liberty Professionals in Sogakope.

Habib Mohammed who has been playing defensive midfield role was preferred at the central defence to Mubarik Yussif.

Emmanuel Gyamfi returned to the starting lineup in place of Ibrahim Osman after missing last week’s game.

Felix Annan and Emmanuel Keyekeh also earned starting places for the first time in some months.

Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, WAFA trainer also made two changes to the team that pipped Legon Cities FC 1-0 in Sogakope last weekend.

Playmaker Augustine Boakye was welcomed into the starting lineup to replace Abdul Basit Issah after fully recovering from an injury.

Francis Boateng also paved way for Derrick Mensah.

Asante Kotoko got their noses in front just two minutes into the game when Abdul Ganiu Ismail converted a spot kick.

WAFA goalkeeper Kwadwo Osei Bonsu brought down striker Francis Andy Kumi inside the box after failing to deal with a one-on-one situation

The Academy Boys drew level on the stroke of halftime with Justus Torsutsey heading in a beautiful cross from Lawrence Agyekum on the right.

That’s Torsutsey’s 4th goal in his last five matches for WAFA.

The Porcupine Warriors with all efforts to the get the match winner but none could result in a goal as the Academy lads nick a point away on return to Sogakope.
