Ghanaian referees should protect skillful players in the Premier League- Kotoko coach Barreto

Asante Kotoko head coach, Mariano Barreto, says he is not under pressure in the league title race with arch-rivals Hearts of Oak.

The Porcupine Warriors picked a point against Aduana Stars at the Nana Agyeman Badu Park to temporarily go top of the Premier League on Saturday.

The result also means Aduana Stars maintained their unbeaten record at home against Asante Kotoko as the home invincibility against the Porcupine Warriors lingers on in the Ghana Premier League.

Mariano Barreto after the game indicated there is no pressure on the team even though their arch-rivals are in a pole position to stretch the lead in the league title race.
’I am not feeling any pressure from Hearts of Oak, I feel pressure for our team and not the other teams”, Barreto said after the game.

The Portuguese trainer admitted that his team has a lot to improve if they are to win the league title.

“There is still something wrong with Kotoko. In the first 25 minutes we did well but in the last 10 minutes we didn’t play well. In the second half we controlled the game but we had one fantastic chance but Kumi didn’t control the ball well and we missed. We came to win and we didn’t so we are disappointed”.

Hearts of Oak reclaimed top spot following a 2-0 win over Berekum Chelsea on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Phobians have now a taken a two-point lead on top of the table.
