Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo, has called for a need to incorporate strong ethical values and distinctive skills as part of the government’s efforts to enhance education.

Speaking at the opening of the National Education Forum for the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions, the Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku Constituency stated that restructuring the education system should involve strategies that ensure long-term progress for the country.

She stressed that Ghana’s curriculum must go beyond the mere acquisition of certified knowledge and focus on creating diverse societal impacts. “There must be an educational system that should be tailored towards our national needs to help solve our socio-economic problems. The curriculum must involve the teaching of strong ethical values, critical thinking, leadership skills, and other essential skills through a transformational approach,” she explained.

The government of Ghana launched the National Education Forum earlier this week in Ho, signaling its commitment to addressing pressing challenges in the education sector. The regional forum held at the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA), will run for several days and will bring together education experts and stakeholders to focus on five key areas: Education Financing, Education Infrastructure, Quality Education, Regulations and Accountability, and Governance and Evidence for Decision-Making.
