Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, officially launched the newly established Public Private Partnership (PPP) department as a significant milestone for Ghana’s tourism sector.
Speaking at the launch held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Authority’s head office in Accra. Madam Houadjeto emphasized the importance of keeping the public informed about developments within the Authority. “There have been a number of changes made in the structure of the Ghana Tourism Authority. I think that every department has experienced certain changes. And with every change, I believe that it is only right the public should know,” she said.
She explained that the PPP department was previously housed under the Corporate Affairs unit but now stands independently to facilitate stronger engagement with private sector stakeholders. “Guided by section 42 of the Tourism Act of 2011, Act 817, this department institutionalizes the Public Private Partnership forum as a dynamic platform. It helps with co-planning, co-investing, and co-implementing tourism activities. This is not merely policy—it is a recognition that Ghana’s tourism industry thrives through shared vision, innovation, and strategic investment,” she stated.
The GTA CEO further noted that this restructuring aligns with the Authority’s commitment to sustainable tourism, enhancing service delivery, and presenting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage at a world-class standard.

Appointed to lead the PPP office is former Director of Corporate Affairs, Rev. Jones Aruna-Nelson, with Nana Adobea serving as his deputy. Both are said to bring a wealth of experience to strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors. In his remarks, Aruna-Nelson outlined the department’s priority areas , which will predominantly focus on how to secure investments from local and foreign investors. “Under this new framework, we are intensifying our commitment to key initiatives such as The Black Star Experience, which showcases Ghana’s rich heritage to the global community, and the Resetting Agenda, which focuses on reimagining our tourism strategies for sustainable impact.”

Mr. Bright Asempa Tsadidey now assumes the role of Director of Corporate Affairs. He expressed his intentions to build upon the department’s progress by enhancing media education on GTA’s mandate, improving communication channels, fostering partnerships, and promoting a unified and vibrant tourism identity. “In my capacity as Corporate Affairs Director, my vision is clear: to position Ghana not just as a leading tourist destination but as a compelling global cultural force. Tourism, to me, is more than movement—it is storytelling. It is about transforming every visitor into a part of Ghana’s living heritage, and empowering every Ghanaian to be an ambassador of our rich culture.”

President of the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF), Charles Adu-Gyamfi, praised the initiative as both “timely and strategic,” pledging the federation’s support. He encouraged the PPP office to uphold transparency and integrity in its operations. “Engage openly with all stakeholders and discuss all matters transparently to drive towards progress. This step made by the GTA will aid Ghana’s tourism sector to make more impact,” he urged.

The launch of the PPP department signals GTA’s commitment to unlocking more opportunities in the tourism industry. As a public sector-led and private sector-driven endeavor, the PPP office is expected to serve as a vital channel for attracting and managing investments that will strengthen Ghana’s position as a top tourism destination
