Achraf Hakimi, Victor Osimhen and Mohamed Salah have been named as the three finalists for the 2025 African Men’s Player of the Year award, CAF announced on Sunday.
On the women’s side, Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Sanaa Mssoudy join Nigeria’s Rasheedat Ajibade on the shortlist for the continent’s top honour.
Hakimi makes the list despite being sidelined with injury, having played a key role in PSG’s historic Champions League triumph and their run to the final of the expanded Club World Cup.
Salah, a two-time winner of the award, is looking to bounce back from recent struggles after inspiring Liverpool to a record-equalling 20th Premier League title last season. The 33-year-old also claimed the 2024/25 Premier League Golden Boot with 29 goals.
Osimhen, now shining at Turkish giants Galatasaray, has been in red-hot form for both club and country, earning him a deserved place among Africa’s elite.
