Founder of Hearts Chapter O, Aziz Haruna Futa, has revealed that no government in power has sponsored supporters going to any of the World Cup tournaments the team has featured in.

Deliberating on whether the Government should take supporters to Qatar on the Happy Sports Dialogue On Happy Fm,Aziz Haruna confirmed that all the World Cup tournaments Ghana has participated in, from the country’s first appearance in 2006, 2010, 2014, were all sponsored by other Corporate bodies.

“I had the advantage of being at all these World Cup tournaments Ghana has participated in, from the 2006, 2010 and 2014 and I can tell you the Government has never taken anyone there.

“In 2006, the tickets purchased for supporters was from ‘Areeba’which is now MTN.

“What the Government does is that, Through the Sports Minister, contacts are made to these Corporate companies to aid take supporters to the World Cup”.He told Ohene Bampoe Brenya.

He further explained the importance of sending supporters to Qatar to support the Black Stars saying, “Supporters are very important, the World Cup is a very different atmosphere and we would need the Supporters there to urge the boys on.

“I’m not saying this because I am a supporter, and the media should also know what they put out there for the public”. He added.

Ghana will play its first game against Portugal on November 24, 2022 after being drawn with Uruguay and South Korea in Group H.

The 2022 World Cup tournament kicks off on November 20,2022 and will be live on e.TV Ghana and Happy 98.9FM.
