The Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA) has stepped up its nationwide enforcement efforts by shutting down several unlicensed health facilities in the Ashanti Region.
Among those affected are ANKHOR Diagnostics and RASHBILL Eyecare, both operating within the premises of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The closures have left some patients stranded, as HeFRA officials continue on-site inspections to ensure compliance with health regulations.
This latest operation follows the closure of 17 other facilities across Ghana found to be operating with expired licenses or under conditions deemed unsafe for healthcare delivery.
According to HeFRA, the clampdown is part of a broader initiative aimed at eliminating unaccredited facilities and enforcing strict licensing and operational standards.
Speaking to the media, HeFRA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Winfred Baah, emphasized that the exercise is essential for safeguarding public health and ensuring that only qualified and properly regulated healthcare providers are allowed to operate in the country.
