Augustine Oppong, the Asante Kotoko fan involved in the shooting incident at the Baba Yara Stadium in exclusive interview with Ohene-Bampoe Brenya host of Happy FM disclosed that he has been neglected by the Ghana Police Service since the incident.

Augustine was shot by a Police Officer who is yet to be identified in a Ghana Premier League game between Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Asante Kotoko lost the game at home which led to some unsporting behavior from their fans leading to a ban by the disciplinary committee of the Ghana Football Association.

In the wake of the issue, the fans agitated by throwing missiles onto the pitch and also tried to harm referee Charles Bulu who officiated the game.

The Police in their bid to calm and disperse the crowd, led to an officer shooting a stray bullet into the crowd which hit Augustine Oppong right in the eye.

He was sent to the hospital and operated on which resulted to his eye been damaged.

Oppong a commercial driver told Happy Sports that since the incident he is yet to hear from the Ghana Police Service.

“”I have had no visit from the Police, or they haven’t even called or come to visit me after this incident”.

“I feel sad about this. I plead with everyone to help search for the Police Officer who has caused me this damage”

He explained what happened before he was shot by the Police Officer.

“I was just doing my work and see this predicament that has befallen me.

“On the day of the incident I sent some supporters to the stadium and I had to wait outside for them to finish the game and then carry them back”.

“I was standing a far watching some of the fans agitating. I wasn’t even part and then the Police officer shot me.

“The Police Officer who shot me was in their big vehicle and he shot me when they were escorting the referee out of the stadium”, he ended.

The Ghana Police Service earlier on released a statement that it has indicted the officer involved in the shooting incident.
