I will vote ‘yes’ in New Region Referundum-Martin Adjei- Mensah Korsah

Deputy Minister of Regional Re-organisation and Development, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, has stated that he will vote yes in the upcoming referenda to determine the constitutional threshold for the creation of the six new Regions as recommended by the Justice Brobbey Commission of Inquiry.

Speaking on Happy FM’s ‘Epa Hoa Daben’ political show, he said ‘’I am voting yes and I am proud to say it.’’

He explained that those in favour of the creation of the new regions have fought for this cause for several decades under various Governments but to no avail. “Fortunately thanks to the president Nana Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) Administration, now there is an opportunity to clinch that dream. ”

He also said that for the creation of the new regions, at least 50% of the persons entitled to vote, must vote in each of the different referendum, and of the votes cast, at least 80% must be in favour of the creation of a region for the demand to succeed.

According to him, the euphoria cannot be felt in places exempted from the referenda, but on the grounds the air of anticipation is being felt.

The proposed new regions are the Western North, Bono East, Ahafo, Savannah, North East, and Oti Regions.
