Deputy Minister for Works, Housing and Water Resources, Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui has urged African governments, private sector players and development partners to adopt sustainable and climate-resilient approaches in infrastructure development to drive economic transformation and regional integration.
Speaking at the International Building, Infrastructure and Investment Expo 2025 on Friday, September 12 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) held under the theme “Building Resilient Infrastructure for Sustainable Growth & Regional Integration”, the Deputy Minister commended the organizers for creating a platform that fosters dialogue, innovation and collaboration among policymakers, industry leaders, and practitioners.
She stressed that resilient infrastructure is the backbone of sustainable growth across Africa, underpinning key sectors such as education, healthcare, housing, commerce, and public service delivery.
“Our ability to transform economies, create jobs and uplift communities depends largely on how well we build and more importantly, on how sustainably we build,” she said.
Gizella Tetteh-Agbotui highlighted the role of infrastructure as a “connective tissue” that links economies, facilitates trade, and strengthens integration under initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
