Ghanaian songstress Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, better known by her stage name MzVee says she would be an unintelligible person to lie about a serious subject like depression.
Speaking on Happy FM’s Ayekoo After Drive the dancehall artiste who was reported to have left the music scene to attend to her depression, rebuked claims it was all a publicity stunt.
She said, “There’s no way I’ll pick such a heavy topic and say I have depression just to be relevant. I’ll be a dumb person to pretend I am depressed. A lot of people face the problem of depression and its not something to joke about.”
According to her, her depression reared its head in 2016 but started getting severe in 2017. She passionately revealed that she couldn’t take care of myself if she didn’t solve her issue of depressing. And that prompted her to drop her music career to seek treatment.
Now an advocate for cases of depression, Vera citing depression as a major killer in the country called upon people suffering from depression to contact her for support.
