
The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has imposed a curfew on Binduri and its surrounding areas in the Upper East Region.
According to the press statement issued by the interior ministry, the curfew takes effect immediately from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am.
The statement signed by Muntaka Mubarak read, “The Minister for the Interior on the advice of the Upper East and North East Regional Security Councils and by Executive Instrument imposed Curfew on the Binduri Township and its environs in the Upper East Region from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am effective Saturday, April 12, 2025.
The government has also urged Chiefs, Elders, Opinion Leaders, the Youth, and residents of the area to remain calm and exercise restraint in the face of the current challenges.
It further encourages all to use non-violent avenues to channel their efforts toward maintaining peace in the area.
In the meantime, a total ban has been placed on the possession of arms, ammunition, and offensive weapons within Binduri Township and its surrounding communities.
The ban also prohibits the wearing of smocks and the riding of motorbikes. Anyone found in possession of arms, ammunition, or violating these directives will be arrested and prosecuted.
