
The world awaits a splurge of football artistry with bated breath at the 2025 FIFA CLUB WORLD CUP.
For the first time in the competition’s history, 32 clubs from six confederations will have the opportunity of participating in this football festival.
The United States of America will host all these elite clubs from the 14th of June to the 13th of July, with 11 host cities and 12 venues billed to be used.
The US, who are co-hosts of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, are ostensibly going to use this tournament to test their preparedness for next year’s mundial, albeit having about one more year to conclude preparations.
Five time champions of the competition, Real Madrid, and defending champions, Manchester City, are primed to be favorites for this year’s competition despite both clubs returning poor performances this season.
Europe, being record winners of the competition, have 12 clubs representing them. These clubs are Real Madrid, Manchester City, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Salzburg, Dortmund, Porto, Benfica, PSG, Bayern Munich and Juventus.
CONMEBOL are ably represented by 6 clubs, which are, Palmeiras, Flamengo, Fluminense, Botafogo, Boca Juniors and River Plates.
Representing the Confederation of African Football (CAF) will be Al Ahly, Wydad AC, Esperance de Tunis and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will have Al Hilal, Al Ain, Urawa Red Diamonds and Ulsan HD hoisting their flag.
CONCACAF will be represented by Monterrey, Pachuca, Seattle Sounders FC, and a last to determined by a playoff between Los Angeles FC and Club America.
Oceania Football Confederation will be represented by Auckland City while the host country, USA’s star spangled banner will be hoisted by Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami after emerging winners of the 2024 MLS Supporters’ Shield.
The expectation for participating clubs are sky-high and they are expected to exhibit dazzling and swashbuckling.
