James Marfo, Ghana’s table tennis sensation, has been making waves in the sports scene. He recently won the 2025 SWAG (Sports Writers Association of Ghana) award for Table Tennis Player of the Year, alongside Emmanuel Commey.

This achievement is a testament to his outstanding performance at the 2025 World Table Tennis (WTT) Contender in Lagos, where he won a bronze medal in the men’s doubles and secured qualification to the African Championship in Tunisia.

Marfo’s victory at the SWAG Awards is a notable milestone in his career, highlighting his dedication and hard work.

He expressed gratitude to his manager, Michael Danquah, and his coach, Annang White, for their unwavering support. The table tennis star’s sights are set on representing Ghana at the highest level, with the Olympics and Commonwealth Games being his ultimate targets.

According to his manager Danquah, James Marfo’s achievement is a proud moment for Ghanaian table tennis, and his success is expected to inspire young athletes to take up the sport.

The 50th SWAG Awards ceremony was a grand celebration of Ghana’s sporting excellence, with notable winners including Antoine Semenyo (Foreign-Based Footballer of the Year) and Benjamin Asare (Home-Based Footballer of the Year). The event recognized outstanding achievements in various sports disciplines, inspiring future generations to excel.
