The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, will appear before Parliament this week to address the ongoing electoral dispute in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

The constituency has gone without a Member of Parliament since the December 7 elections, as confusion over results from some polling centres stalled the collation process.

For more than six months, constituents have lacked representation in the House.

On June 4, the Minority caucus petitioned the Ghana Police Service, urging them to provide security for the Electoral Commission to safely and transparently complete the re-collation.

Jean Mensa will brief the Committee of the Whole in Parliament on progress made so far in resolving the deadlock.

MPs are expected to demand clear answers on the Commission’s timeline for finalising the collation and announcing the results.
