Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Setor Dumelo, has called for the strengthening of town councils across Accra to address the constituency’s alarming sanitation issues.

Speaking with happyghana.com’s Kobina Baidoo during a cleanup exercise organized by Buzstop Boys at Legon on March 31, Dumelo stressed the need for intensified education on sanitation and more eco-friendly waste disposal methods.

He emphasized that reinstating town councils would help enforce proper sanitation practices. “Back then in the day, when there were town councils, you dare not litter or put rubbish in front of your house,” he recalled.

The MP noted that Ayawaso West Wuogon would set an example for other constituencies. “This would have to start from District Assemblies, and then we break it down to the units and start setting up from there to implement the town council system. The Ayawaso West Wuogon is sure to implement this as soon as possible.” he assured.
