The campaign team of Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has denied media reports claiming that Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong alleged former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo urged New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential aspirants to step aside for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In a statement released and signed by the campaign’s spokesperson, Nana Ama Asantewaa Kwarko on Saturday, October 25, the KAA 2028 team said the publication by Apex News Africa and Opera News was false and without basis, stressing that Ing. Agyepong made no such comment during his recent media interaction.
The campaign team clarified that Ing. Agyepong only acknowledged the occurrence of a meeting between President Akufo-Addo and all NPP presidential aspirants, emphasizing that it was a private engagement. Out of respect for confidentiality, he declined to disclose details of the discussions.
“At no point did he suggest that the President attempted to influence the internal contest or endorse any individual candidate. Any suggestion to that effect is a deliberate misrepresentation and an affront to journalistic integrity,” the statement read.
The KAA 2028 Campaign reaffirmed its commitment to promoting integrity, discipline, and meritocracy within the NPP and urged the public to disregard the “fabricated story.”
The statement also called on media outlets to uphold professionalism and accuracy in their reportage to prevent misinformation and protect public trust.
