Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City Accra, on Sunday 1 December officially ushered in the festive season with its annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.

The beautiful event, which has become a tradition for the hotel over the years, brought together distinguished guests, vibrant performers, and a heartwarming holiday spirit, making it a memorable evening for all in attendance.

The evening event commenced with delightful performances by the house band and the energetic Kwan Pa Band, who set the tone with festive tunes. The Guest of Honour for this year’s event, His Royal Majesty, the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, joined Kempinski’s General Manager, Mr. Hanno Barkhoff, for the ceremonial tree lighting. Together, they lit the grand Christmas tree, marking the official start of the holiday season.

In his welcome address, Mr. Barkhoff expressed his gratitude to guests and staff for supporting the hotel since its establishment ten years ago. “Our achievements would not have been possible without our dedicated team members and the unwavering support and trust of you, our treasured clients and guests.”

Mr. Barkhoff highlighted Kempinski’s remarkable journey as they approach their 10th anniversary, reflecting on their decade-long commitment to delivering exceptional service and community engagement. “For nearly a decade, Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City has stood as a symbol of hospitality, elegance, craftsmanship, and service in the heart of Accra, and we are privileged to call Ghana our home,” he said.

Looking ahead, Mr. Barkhoff unveiled Kempinski’s ambitious plans for 2025, which include the launch of a new à la carte restaurant and bar. “We will invite our guests to savour a harmonious fusion of Asian and local cuisine,” he noted, promising an elevated dining experience. He also emphasised Kempinski’s continued focus on corporate social responsibility through their BE Health programme.

In a speech read on his behalf, the Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, congratulated Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City on its 10th anniversary. “For a decade, Kempinski has been a shining example of excellence in hospitality in Ghana, and we celebrate this milestone with you. Your contributions to our local tourism in Accra and your dedication to community engagement are commendable.”

This year’s stunning tree decoration was crafted in collaboration with Adubea Jensen, a Ghanaian luxury brand that designs and creates exquisite, handmade accessories out of tiny beads. The Creative Director and CEO Janet Adubea Jensen shared her inspiration for the tree’s dazzling bead lights. “The Christmas tree tells the story of resilience, heritage, and exquisite craftsmanship with a blend of tradition, connection, and innovation. Beads have always been an integral part of our culture, symbolising beauty and identity,” she explained.

A significant part of the evening was the distribution of festive gifts by the Ga Mantse to children from the Akropong School for the Blind and the Street Children Empowerment Foundation, bringing joy and smiles to their faces. Following this, the ceremonial countdown took place, further elevating the festive atmosphere.

A highlight of the event was the unveiling of Kempinski’s 10th-anniversary logo.
The celebration continued with enchanting performances, including a soulful musical interlude by the Akropong School for the Blind and a spirited dance display by the Street Children Empowerment Foundation.

Ghanaian superstar singer Becca concluded the evening with a captivating performance, leaving the audience in high spirits and ready for the festivities of the season.
